Our Cousins and Best Friends

The world is wonderful when we are surrounded by our cousins and best friends. Their favourite pets are ours too and we like to play the same games.  It Is is so good when we know that they love us and are ready to help. The sky is the limit to our love too!

Our Best Friends and Dear Cousins

A lot of love, patience and hard work has been invested in these charming presentations of best friends and close cousins by young teenage students in A2.b and A1.a groups and their teacher Katarina Ristic at Lingva. This new generation has many interesting things to reveal to us – we can learn that not only PE is the most popular subject but also math, that they like to be surrounded with pets and go out for a walk with a dog and actively do more than one sport. Their meeting points are city squares and their destination is most often Pećina Park. The music they listen to are songs by Marcus and Martines Shakira, and they adore acting of Kira Kosarin on the Nickelodeon channel. What can be more delicious than eating spaghetti and attractive than going to the seaside in Greece.

Multimedia English Projects by Lingva Students from Gorenje 2016/2017

We have recently completed this year’s cycle of Business and Technical English courses for students from the Gorenje d.o.o. company. The cooperation between Gorenje and Lingva in the area of language education has been going on for many years and is maximally based on meeting the individual students’ needs and developing their communicative skills.   Since the syllabuses included practice of oral presentation skills, students have jointly made a series of attractive multimedia projects,  which have been published on our web site www.lingva.com/cafe:

SAVE THE WALLNUT TREE DRIVE CONTINUED WITH LEGO BRICKS

We proudly announce that we have saved two more walnut trees – the seventh and the eighth –  from cutting, together with their scops owlets, which kept hooting for help in our lush green, so fully walnut-and-linden-scented Valjevo! Look at our latest news reports illustrated with LEGO bricks, and published with LEGO StoryStarter program, with the little help from our teacher Katarina Vićentijević.

Spring News from Serbia, Valjevo & Lingva

Our adult students Natasa Simjanovska, Jelena Davidovic, Natasa Damnjanovic, Stanko Markovic and Radisa Jovanovic, from General English group B1+/a, supported by teacher Ivana Lazic, prepared some interesting news for us about topical events this spring in our country, town and language school Lingva. We can read about some good and some not-so-good events, such as a case of mugging in Valjevo and a traffic accident in Pirot, paying homage to actor Dragan Nikolić, but also about a wine festival in Valjevo, and especially about how finely tuned and cooperative their language group is, especially when they discuss varous issues, and how fond they are of their teacher Ivana.

Nobody compares to them

The best singers for us are Ariana, Selena, Shakira and Taylor. Ariana has the nicest voice and Selena is the most beautiful without makeup. Taylor is fitter than Ariana and Shakira is the fittest.
Not only do we like football but we play it as well. Our favourite players are Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s muscles are bigger than Messi’s, Messi’s muscles are bigger than Neymar’s, but Neymar is taller than Messi, and Messie is more popular than Ronaldo.
Our favourite basketball players are LeBron and Curry. LeBron is older, stronger and taller than Curry, but Curry is better at basketball than LeBron. Curry is the best player in the world.

We made these beautiful posters with the help of our teacher Ivana Lazić.

Famous Serbian Historic Figures

Višegrad Bridge
Višegrad Bridge by Lingva Valjevo

Exploring the information about famous Serbian historical figures, together with our teacher Katarina Andrić, we found out many diverse interests and occupations of, first of all, Milutin Milanković, who explained why and how ice ages occurred in the geological past of the Earth, and which climate changes can be expected on it in the future, as well as even more famous Nikola Tesla, who created one of the world’s first wireless remote control and wanted to produce free electrical power for the whole world. We also described two men of letters – Vuk Stafanović Karadžić, whose parents named him Vuk („Wolf“) so that evil spirits would not hurt him and who had such an excellent memory that he was able to write a book of over 100 lyrical and epic poems he memorized as a child, and Ivo Andrić, Croatian by origin, who in his youth was a member of several South Slav organisations that opposed the Austro-Hungarian occupation, and who became 1961 Nobel prize laureate in literature “for the epic force with which he has traced themes and depicted human destinies drawn from the history of his country”.

22nd LINGVA Workshop on LEGO Language Teaching

22nd Lingva Workshop on LEGO Language Teaching
22nd Lingva Workshop on LEGO Language Teaching

After finishing teaching for this school year, Lingva teachers had an opportunity to run an inhouse workshop on integrating LEGO constructions into language teaching. It was our 22nd inhouse workshop titled Help Me Build My Story! Creating Picture Books, Comics and News Stories with LEGO Elements. Continuing its policy of continuing investment into the cutting edge teaching equipment and aids, Lingva has recently purchased an innovative educational Lego pack with expansion sets, together with respective software, aimed at boosting motivation of our young students for language learning and improving speaking and writing skills. The worskhop was set up and run by Marija Milovanović, Marija Matić and Mirjana Ljiljak-Vukajlović, and other teachers contributed to the activities with plenty of creative details for story “building”.

Materials

We are surrounded by various materials and often take them for granted, but from time to time it is good to remember their properties so that we can recommend and use them for different purposes.

Me and My World

As the majority of us go to different primary schools, we have met a lot of new friends at Lingva. We are not sure whether we have more friends or sports that we are interested in, such as volleyball, basketball, cycling, running, tennis, football and karate. In any case we mostly do sports and English together with our friends, and so we have even more fun.
